Sometimes life doesn’t follow the path you imagined.
For Jess and her family, life was busy, full of laughter, and focused around raising five beautiful children. Like most parents, they celebrated every milestone and watched each child grow in their own unique way.
But as Logan became more mobile, Jess began noticing something that her mother’s intuition simply couldn’t ignore.
His walking looked different.
Having watched four other children reach their milestones, she knew something wasn’t quite right. Logan wasn’t walking with the same stability as his siblings. He walked on his toes and was falling over quiet frequently, his balance seemed different, and over time it became clear that walking wasn’t just difficult, it was becoming painful.
Following further assessments, Logan was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.
While the diagnosis finally provided answers, it also introduced a future filled with uncertainty.
Questions no parent is ever prepared for.
Rather than allowing those questions to define their future, Jess and her family made a decision.
They would focus on what Logan could do, not what he couldn’t.
That decision shaped everything that followed.
Since his diagnosis, Logan has worked incredibly hard alongside his therapy team at Icaria Health and with his physio at Flexout Health.
Regular therapy has become part of everyday life, helping Logan continue building his strength, mobility, confidence and functional skills.
It is about giving Logan every opportunity to develop the skills that support his independence and participation while allowing his therapists to continually review his progress and recommend supports as his needs change over time.

One of the most inspiring parts of Logan’s story is that this has never been his journey alone, he has a large family supporting him every step of the way.
With four brothers and a sister beside him, inclusion has always been a priority.
Like many families raising a child with a disability, they have learned to adapt without losing sight of what matters most.
Doing things together. Creating memories together and making sure Logan never feels left behind.
Life may sometimes require more planning, more appointments and more advocacy, but the goal has never changed.
To give Logan every opportunity to experience childhood alongside the people who love him most.
In June 2026, that determination reached another incredible milestone.
After years of therapy, clinical recommendations, assessments, funding conversations and advocacy, Logan received his custom-built wheelchair.
To many people it may simply look like a wheelchair.
To Logan’s family, it represents freedom and independence.
It means family outings no longer need to end because Logan needs to rest or is in pain.
It means longer adventures.
More opportunities to participate.
More opportunities to simply enjoy being a little boy.
Instead of spending so much energy managing pain and fatigue, Logan can now spend that energy exploring, learning, laughing and making memories alongside his family.
The wheelchair doesn’t replace Logan’s determination. It removes one of the barriers standing in his way.
One of the biggest misconceptions people have is that assistive technology is simply about equipment alone.
In reality, the right equipment can completely change how someone experiences the world.
For Logan, his wheelchair is not about doing less.
It is about making it possible to do more.
It creates greater comfort when pain becomes overwhelming. It supports participation in family outings, and it opens opportunities to explore his community with greater confidence.
Most importantly, it helps Logan continue doing what every child deserves to do.
Simply be a kid.
Logan’s journey is a wonderful reminder that meaningful outcomes are rarely achieved by one person alone.
They happen when families, therapists, schools, specialists, support workers and plan managers all work together towards the same goal. Jess never stopped advocating.

Getting Logans wheelchair was a bittersweet moment watching him gain his independence. Knowing that he can now join in on things that might have been difficult in the past due to logan getting fatigued easily. Watching him light up because he knew it was his and we made it special by getting it in his favorite colour, which is orange.
At first, we were nervous he might feel discouraged by the wheelchair but knowing he feels comfortable in it and is happy to show it off, as logan says ‘my new wheels’ with a massive smile on his face.
As a parent you have a fear of your child not fitting in or getting bullied for being different and the changes that we have seen in logan since getting his wheelchair has been amazing, his peers at school have been so encouraging with the changes that logan is going through.
